Summer is fast approaching and with it holidays (hopefully) in the sun, ice-creams, bikinis, wedges, sandals, beach bags and the all important maxi dress. However, what colours are in? What are the newest shapes? And which designers have rocked the runways with the most beautiful designs of the season?

To begin with, Emilio Pucci showcased some gorgeous designs in his spring/summer 2012 collection. Between bohemian chic and body hugging floor length numbers with long sleeves, to gothic inspired, flowing skirts with trains, his collection was diverse and enchanting. Figure hugging maxis are great for showing off your curves and giving you a womanly shape. This beautiful, red floor length number from the Caramelo by Antonio Pernas range is simple and chic and could easily be paired with patterned and exciting accessories to add texture and a different dynamic to your look.

Roberto Cavalli´s collection of course had to include the all important animal print. This time it was snakeskin, teamed with snakeskin leggings and boots for a harder and edgier look. This zebra print maxi, would be perfect for a day wondering the streets of a historic town or for dining by the sea at night on holiday. Paired with a neutral coloured clutch and sandals, this dress is comfortably chic and easy to wear.

Florals were beautifully incorporated into the collection by Carlos Miele, whom showed designs with slits in the skirts to show off sun-kissed legs and providing a beautiful fluidity when combined with movement. These two floral, floor length designs are part of the Antonio Pernas range and both possess the same gorgeous “movability” factor. Suitable for making an impact at a summer ball, at a friend´s wedding, or if you simply fancy dressing up for a dinner at home or away. Go cool and chic in this sleeveless turquoise maxi, or floral and pretty in this red and white, long sleeved dress with a figure hugging waist belt.
